Such a cute and lovely gift comic!! It has so many things I love. Awkward flirty Bilbo, food as a love language, stoic Thorin (who's either super clueless OR secretly head-over-heels, and both options are GREAT), and the Coffee Shop AU setting completely slays me, I just find those so adorable and warm! And the dynamic between Bilbo and Thorin was just so funny and cute! This comic is just so so feel-good-y, it's definitely going on my rainy-day list to rescue me from the gloom. And, last but not least, the art is FABULOUS! Truly delightful to look at. I adore it!!!

    Summary

It truly starts with the cup.

It never stays where Iruka puts it, or at least where he thinks he puts it. He doesn't remember moving it.

After a brief search, he finds it on the windowsill, filled to the brim with wisps of steam floating away. Iruka tries to remember making a fresh cup. He tries to remember drinking the first, the flowery scent of chamomile already in his breath.

“Get it together, Iruka, you’re losing it,” he mutters, ignoring the disquietude growing in the back of his mind. “It’s a fucking cup of tea. You forgot you made it, it’s no big deal.” With shaky resolve, Iruka retrieves the cup and dumps the tea into the sink. He watches the water swirl and drain away.

    He wants to leave.

Or: there's a spooky cabin and weird shit happens

A ghost story where the characters are, by all intents and purposes, each other's ghosts! The scariest thing there is—not feeling safe with the person who should be your shelter. Also, the fact that we got both of the character's POVs basically removes the possibility of one of them being 100% an illusion, which makes everything so much more deliciously unsettling. And the story leaves you with so many questions! Interesting, nerve-wracking questions! Were they there together or not at all? Who was real and who wasn't? Was it a jutsu or something else? Just amazing. Really loved it. An absolute spooky fave.

    Summary

“Are you planning to keep my hair tie?” Iruka asked suddenly, a hint of amusement in his voice.

“I’m holding it prisoner for crimes against the citizens of Konoha.”

    “What are the charges?”

Kakashi smiled, twirling the band around his forefinger like a kunai. “Perjury and willful concealment.”

Iruka huffed and shook his head, lips thinning in a way that made Kakashi think he was holding back a grin. “You know, if I’d realized you had such a thing for long hair, I would have started wearing mine down years ago.”

Kakashi’s thumb caught the hair band, halting its revolution.

    “Years?”

(Or, in which Iruka asks for a single night, and gets a whole lot more.)

    Bookmarker's Notes

This was amazing! I really loved that the author used what's basically a PWP to do some wonderfully on-point character exploration. It was unexpected but incredibly rewarding! I also loved how Kakashi and Iruka's relationship progressed during their tryst, and how Kakashi's perception of Iruka became much more accurate rather than the mostly-2D preconceptions he had had of the teacher so far. Also, I absolutely LOVED how Iruka's proposition was described as an ambush and the author actually had Kakashi mentally 'retrace' Iruka's steps in laying down his 'trap'. Absolutely wonderful! Really, I loved this so much!! <3<3

    Bookmarker's Notes

This was such a cute read! I love the "stuck in a cave together" trope, and though it's usually used for a steamier kind of fic, I really liked how it was a narrative device to have them interact and grow closer. I found Iruka's backstory very cool too! The author gave just enough details to make the story's world seem larger without actually going overboard with unnecessary details (though, really, I'm always a sucker for details). The addition of the ninken was keenly appreciated—I love seeing them featured in fics, no matter how fleetingly. And I loved the fight scene! Kakashi and Iruka were so in sync! Hell yeah!
